Crisp and cool winter days are here – and with them one of the best times of the year to save energy and water. Therefore, we are excited to announce the launch of the Energy and Water Saving Challenge!
Please see the attached Energy and Water Saving Challenge Overview for details on the judging, award structure, and the projects and points available through the Energy and Water Saving Challenge. The Energy and Water Saving Challenge runs from December 1st through March 31st and your school can earn up to 9 GGC points by participating in 6 GGC projects related to energy and water saving. Schools saving the most energy and the most water compared to their 2011-2012 usage (pre-Go Green Challenge) will win over $11,000 in cash awards.
We’re here to help you work on and complete projects and to implement your own ideas to save energy and water. Your AmeriCorps Green School Coordinators are your go-to resource and will help you thrive in this year’s Energy and Water Saving Challenge. To get you started we have attached the first two projects of the Energy and Water Saving Challenge – the Energy and Water Monitors Project and the Power Down for the Holidays Project. Good luck and happy saving – we look forward to seeing all the creative ways that your school will find to save!
