During the month of March, our green team has managed to orchestrate a healthy food drive for our entire school in which we made smoothies using different fruits and vegetables. We also created other healthy snacks for the students to try. These snacks included apple slices and peanut butter, celery and peanut butter fresh fruits such as strawberries, kiwi, and grapes along with granola and raw nut samples. The healthy treats were available during one of the lunch hours for the students to try. We received a lot of positive feedback from the students.
We have been working on our capstone project, “The Battle of the Classes” event by having students decorate recycling bins for each class. The recycling competition will occur during the Earth Week. Each student was assigned to make a poster promote recycling so that students would know what the proper items to recycle are. We become closer to launching this event every day thanks to the participation of the students. Many students also completed the online job applications for the Go Green summer jobs! It was another busy and fun month at King H.S.
