Hope Park Drives First Stake

Last Saturday, the Green Team from DIT @ Cody High School hosted a volunteer day to kick off the development of Hope Park. The day consisted of a clean-up, sinking the first posts, and installing the park’s sign. In addition to Sustainability Coordinator Ms. Borachi, students are working with many adult community partners. 


DCP Powers Down 
On Friday, Detroit Collegiate Prep @ Northwestern HS held a student-led power down for a full hour to finish out Earth Week. All electricity was shut down and students gathered outside to start seeds in planters and enjoy the weather! The Sustainability Coordinator at DCP in Mr. Jennings.  

FDA Debuts Green Courtyard  
The Green Crusaders at Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men hosted a Courtyard Open House last Friday as the pinnacle of their Tier 3 project. The team, led by Sustainability Coordinator Mr. Segrist, had spent most of the year planning out and implementing the greening of the courtyard space, and used the afternoon to showcase it. The event featured smoothies, Trash-ket-ball, a cleanup, and soil filtration demonstrations.
